Well, for one, there is the idea of fairness in competitions. If a person wants to lead a healthy lifestyle, they wouldn’t be able to compete at the same level as IFBB pros as it stands now. There is also much debate as to what facts are true and which ones are over-exaggerated when it comes to the damage steroids cause to the human body – so perhaps it is incorrect to label fast food and over the counter drugs in the same category. But we’re not making a statement for or against steroid use – and neither is Dorian Yates.

So a women gets implants and a fake ass but that’s acceptable? Our entire society is based on perception, how you and others perceive yourself. This is a crap article and in my 20+ plus years in the gym have I heard “pregnant belly” bloated gut maybe, bitch tits maybe, gyno boy, maybe… but wtf… even some of you commenting… who cares what people do in their lives!!! If it doesn’t affect you directly why care? Why out down people? Unless it’s Sunthol use… always put down Synthol…(stupid). Acne, balding, gyno, bloated gut, it’s all genetic and each steroid or drug affects each person differently based on their genetic disposition. Meh WTF do I know, I might be pregnant..

I love the Rock and I’m not hating on him.
I’m trying to help people that read this article not be gullible when I state the following truth.
THERE IS NO WAY HE IS NOT ON STEROIDS.
He is also one of the hardest working men in show business and he does work extremely hard in the gym. Steroids aren’t an easy substitute for hard work. They simply make that kind of added muscle mass POSSIBLE.
To believe “I tried it when I was 19”, and to believe all natural hard work ALONE without the HELP of steroids can produce those results, means you are VERY naive.
The human body simply can NOT add that MUCH muscle mass without working your butt off PLUS steroids. The article seems to say the use of steroids is “the easy way”.
NO! The use of steroids makes a HUGE amount of HARD work such that it’s physically POSSIBLE to bulk up THAT much.
You STILL must WORK extremely HARD in the gym. But i don’t care how hard you work, THOSE results are simply not possible without ALSO using chemicals like steroids.
There is NO way he only “tried it as a teen” and never touched it again. I so very much respect him still, he had no choice but to lie because today’s media makes steroids out to be only a “shortcut” instead of also admitting or understanding shortcut is not it’s only use. It is also REQUIRED to get that HUGE added mass physique, to make the transformation POSSIBLE. A look the media themselves glorify. To get that HUGE you must work out like a dedicated hard working good strong willed person. But that alone just isn’t going to get you there. No way no how not possible. It takes dedication in the gym PLUS steroids.

The mere fact that there is no pressure to ban steroids in bodybuilding is just proof that mainstream media is not taking the sport and its athletes serious enough. The Atlantic makes a call for more respect given to these athletes. A call for the sport of bodybuilding to be taken more seriously. Does that mean steroids should be banned? Not necessarily, but it means that these kinds of discussions should happen. Bodybuilding should be more transparent about the entire process of bodybuilding. Most people know that steroids are commonly used in bodybuilding – so instead of keeping silent about it and letting the mainstream populous make opinions based off of half-facts, the sport of bodybuilding needs to embrace it, talk about it, and inform the world how it actually works.
